The Dominican Diet

There’s nothing quite like a quick trip to the Caribbean to get you feeling at ease and re-energized. The Go Blue Tours crew flew down to Punta Cana last week to tour properties and clubs to make sure everything was as great as we thought it’d be. (We were right!) While on vacation, some people get excited about the partying, some about the tropical atmosphere, but for me it’s the new food and drinks I get to try

Dietary Restrictions

Having dietary restrictions like I do means having to be strategic sometimes when eating in new places, but the Occidental Caribe seamlessly provided us with more than enough options. Their huge buffet was bountiful, with plenty of options for all diets. They had plenty of fresh seafood and meat, soups,  salads, and decadent desserts. They also had the most extensive display of breads I’ve ever seen which was basically life changing. Plus the fresh produce was delicious and fresh, and we especially loved trying Yuca…Try the fried ones! On a break from tours we snacked on fresh fruit salad that was cut right in front of us-Especially yummy with the honey drizzle- And my colleagues raved about the queso frito (fried cheese.)

There were four restaurants and our most formal meal was at the French restaurant located on the main floor. The dishes were plated beautifully, the service was great, and it tasted wonderful.

Beverages

The beverages were a hit, too! In the daytime, we went to two bars inside the hotel and the swim up pool bar. The perfect place for tropical drinks is the Caribbean after all. After a night out at the clubs, we stopped by the outdoor 24 hour bar located between the beach and pools. It had another buffet full of all the foods you want to eat after you’ve had a long night, and a few (or more..) drinks. All sorts of fried things, burgers, hot dogs, the works.

If you go to Punta Cana, don’t miss out on trying the local cuisine and trying out the drinks, especially since you get all you want with our all-inclusive package at the Caribe! We can say first hand that it’s not worth missing out on!
