1. You might just have a close encounter with your favorite celeb. Cabo San Lucas has long been a hot spot for starlets and rock stars looking to take a break from their Hollywood lives. By day, college coeds and celebrities can be seen soaking up sun side-by-side on the beaches, and by night they can be found in the same nightclubs.
2. You can drip your toes in both the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California (also known as the Sea of Cortez). The nutrient rich waters in the Gulf between Baja and mainland Mexico provide a home to a plethora of fish, making it the perfect spot for snorkeling, scuba diving, or sport fishing. Meanwhile, the Pacific waters off the west coast of the peninsula offer great whale watching year round, but especially during spring break season when California Grey Whales migrate through the area.
3. You can shop ’til you drop. From cheap souvenirs and local crafts to high-end clothing, you can find just about anything you want in Cabo San Lucas. The Shoppes at La Paz is a fashion mall that also offers a beautiful space to wander around–its many fountains feature mosaic sculptures of local wildlife. Baja Anklet in the Interior Plaza Marlin is not to be missed. Don’t let the name fool you, the small shop offers much more than anklets. It has inexpensive silver and turquoise jewelry that will help you remember the trip, even if you have a few too many margaritas during your stay.
