An important aspect of travel is taking in new experiences. Especially when it comes to trying local tastes. We know that you have a ton of exciting adventures and activities planned for your Spring Break down south, but it’s important to take time out to enjoy the local flavors and exquisite tastes of region’s authentic food. So here are 3 must-go restaurants, one for each destination. Your belly will thank you.
Not sure where to grab a menu? Check out these must-go restaurants of Cancun, Punta Cana, and Cabo:
- La Destileria in Cancun. Even those who failed their Intro to Spanish course shouldn’t miss the close relation of destileria and distillery. This top Cancun restaurant serves both the best, most mouth-watering Mexican fare and 100 varieties of its made-in-house tequila. Visit just after noon, 1 to 5 p.m., to enjoy tequila tastings paired with appetizers. Looking for a bigger lunch or dinner? We recommend one of their seafood dishes as the main course and caramel crepes as your dessert.
- Delicas de Bavaro in Punta Cana. This fantastic local favorite might not look like much (think dine layout) , but it is a must-go for lunches and post-drink snacks (it is open 24 hours). This is an oasis of traditional Dominican food in a sea of tourist-oriented restaurants (not to say those aren’t great either). Here you can enjoy local staples like La Bandera, kidney beans with chicken, and pastelitos , savory meat or fruit-filled desserts that you’ll fall in love with on the first bite.
- Taqueria Rossey in Los Cabos. This is another roadside restaurant that packs a punch outdoing its decor. Try the bowl of seafood soup, a spicy stew that is frequently overfilled with scallops, shrimp, and other fresh seafood favorites. Wash it down with Mexican beer and get ready for your next Los Cabos exploit.
