Cabo Spring Break: The Complete Guide
Short answer: Cabo San Lucas is the upscale pick of our five international destinations. Packages start at $1,099 per person, all-inclusive, with three resorts on or near Médano Beach and a walkable downtown club scene five minutes away. It costs more than Cancún or Punta Cana, and the trade is a smaller, better-looking, less chaotic week.

What Cabo spring break is actually like

Cabo is two towns at the tip of the Baja peninsula: San José del Cabo (quiet, where the airport is) and Cabo San Lucas (where you will be). Everything that matters for spring break sits in a two-mile stretch of Cabo San Lucas — Médano Beach, the marina, and the downtown streets behind it where the clubs are. You can walk from your resort to the nightlife, which is not true in Cancún.

The crowd is smaller than Cancún's. That is the point. Groups who have done Cancún once and want the same all-inclusive setup with better scenery, calmer beach days, and a club strip you can cover on foot pick Cabo. Groups optimizing for the biggest party or the lowest price should read our Cancún guide or Punta Cana guide instead.

One thing first-timers get wrong: the Pacific beaches on the west side of town are not for swimming. The current is dangerous and there are no lifeguards. Médano Beach on the bay side is the swimming beach — calm water, beach bars, and where our resorts are.

Where you stay: our 3 Cabo resorts

ResortFrom / personBoardWhat it is
Riu Santa Fe$1,099All-inclusiveLarge resort at the south end of Médano Beach with an on-site water park and views of the Arch; about 5 minutes from downtown. Our most-booked Cabo hotel.
Villa Del Palmar$1,149All-inclusiveMid-size Médano Beach resort one mile from downtown; lively pool scene, quieter rooms.
Tesoro Hotel$1,104All-inclusiveBeachfront property in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, closest of the three to the marina and club strip.

Prices are per person for the 2027 season on the standard 5-night package and move with your dates, room type, and group size. Rooms sleep up to 3 at Riu Santa Fe.

Pick Riu Santa Fe if you want the biggest on-property scene. Pick Tesoro if you want to walk to everything. Pick Villa Del Palmar if your group wants a resort that quiets down at night.

Nightlife and days out

Downtown Cabo San Lucas has a club strip you can walk end to end. The names that come up every year are El Squid Roe, Mandala, and the Cabo Wabo Cantina, plus the beach bars along Médano — Mango Deck, The Office, Baja Cantina — that run day parties into the evening.

Cabo is also the one destination where we tell groups to budget for at least one excursion. The boat trip to the Arch (El Arco) and Lover's Beach is the reason the place looks the way it does in every photo. Sunset cruises, snorkeling at Chileno Bay, and ATV runs in the desert are the other regulars. Excursions are not in the package price — see costs below.

Weather in March

Expect daytime highs around 80°F, cool evenings in the mid-60s, and almost no rain — March is one of Cabo's driest months. The water is the catch: the Pacific-fed bay runs around 70°F in March, noticeably cooler than Cancún or Punta Cana. Bring a light layer for nights out.

(Weather figures are approximate averages; check a forecast the week before you fly.)

What Cabo actually costs

CostTypical range
All-inclusive package (hotel, meals, drinks, transfers, taxes)$1,099 – $1,149
Round-trip flight to SJDVaries by city — West Coast and Texas schools see the lowest fares
Party package / club accessOptional add-on; see Party Packages
Excursions (Arch boat trip, snorkeling, ATV)Budget one or two
Spending money (tips, food off-resort, taxis)Your call — most groups bring less than they expect because meals and drinks are covered

Cabo starts meaningfully higher than Cancún ($699) or Punta Cana ($599). If price is your first filter, it is not the right destination. If you are comparing against booking a Cabo resort yourself, remember the group contract rates at these hotels are not sold to individuals, and the package already includes transfers and taxes that get added at checkout when you assemble it alone.

Getting there

Fly into Los Cabos International (SJD). Nonstop flights run from most large West Coast and Southwest hubs — Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, Houston — in roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. East Coast schools usually connect once, which makes Cabo a longer travel day than Punta Cana or the Bahamas from that side of the country.

Your transfer from SJD to the resort is included. It is about 45 minutes down the corridor to Cabo San Lucas.

You need a passport book, valid at least six months past your travel dates. Passport cards do not work for flights. If you do not have one yet, October is the month to apply — see our passport requirements guide for processing times.

How booking works

A $100 deposit per person holds your spot. The balance is split into interest-free monthly payments through the winter, so a group booking in October has five months to pay it off. Early-bird pricing is about $200 per person below regular rates and comes off once the peak March weeks start filling — for Cabo, that is typically by the end of October.

One person books as the group leader, then everyone else joins the group and pays their own share. Your Go Blue host meets you at the resort and is on-site all week.

Cabo spring break FAQs

How much is a Cabo spring break package?

Packages start at $1,099 per person and include the all-inclusive resort, round-trip airport transfers, taxes, and a 5-night stay with up to 3 people per room. Flights, party packages, and excursions are extra.

Is Cabo good for spring break?

Yes, for groups who want an all-inclusive week with walkable nightlife and better scenery than Cancún, and who are not choosing on price alone. It is smaller and calmer than Cancún.

Can you drink at 18 in Cabo?

Yes. The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, and all three of our Cabo resorts are all-inclusive with drinks included.

Do you need a passport for Cabo?

Yes, a passport book valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.

Which is better for spring break, Cabo or Cancún?

Cancún has the bigger party scene, more resorts, and lower prices. Cabo has walkable nightlife, more to do off-resort, and a smaller crowd. See our full Cancún vs. Cabo vs. Punta Cana comparison.

When should I book Cabo for March 2027?

By the end of October. Cabo has only three resorts in our lineup, so the peak weeks sell through earlier than Cancún.
