Nassau Spring Break: The Complete Guide

Nassau Spring Break: The Complete Guide
Short answer: Nassau is the shortest international trip we sell — under an hour from Miami, about three from New York — with an 18 drinking age and packages from $1,099 per person. It is the pricier of our two Bahamas options, and the money buys a real city with a downtown, a famous resort island next door, and the clearest water on our list.

What Nassau spring break is actually like

Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas, and it behaves like one: a working downtown with a cruise port, Bay Street shops and bars, Junkanoo Beach ten minutes' walk from the pier, and a real local nightlife scene alongside the resort one. Cable Beach, where Breezes sits, is the resort strip on the west side of town. Paradise Island, connected by bridge, is where Atlantis is.

That mix is the draw. In Cancún or Punta Cana you are in a resort zone. In Nassau you can spend a day on the property, a night on Bay Street, and an afternoon at the Atlantis water park, all within a 20-minute taxi ride. Groups who want a place to explore rather than a compound pick Nassau. Groups optimizing for the lowest price go to Freeport, our other Bahamas destination, which starts $400 lower.

The water is the other reason. The Bahamas banks are shallow and white-sand, so the color is the electric turquoise you see in photos — not a filter.

Where you stay: our 2 Nassau hotels

HotelFrom / personBoardWhat it is
Breezes Resort$1,099All-inclusiveThe only all-inclusive we book in Nassau, on Cable Beach. Meals, drinks, and the on-site entertainment and parties are in the price; the spring break programming happens here.
AtlantisQuoteRoom-onlyThe Paradise Island mega-resort: Aquaventure water park, the marine habitat, casino, and beaches. You pay for food and drinks separately, so budget accordingly.

Prices are per person for the 2027 season and move with dates, room type, and group size.

Pick Breezes if you want your week's food, drinks, and parties covered on one bill. Pick Atlantis if the property itself is the point and your group has the spending money to match.

Nightlife and days out

Spring break in Nassau is split between the resort and the town. At Breezes, the pool and beach programming runs all week. Downtown, the Bay Street bars and the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay are where locals and visitors overlap; Señor Frog's on the waterfront is the reliable spring-break stop.

The daytime list is longer than any other destination we sell: Atlantis Aquaventure (day passes are sold to non-guests when capacity allows), the swimming pigs at Exuma by day-boat, snorkeling the reefs off Rose Island, Blue Lagoon Island, and the Go Blue booze cruise. Most groups do Atlantis and one boat day.

Weather in March

March is the tail end of the Bahamian dry season. Highs around 79°F, lows in the upper 60s, and water temperature in the mid-70s — comfortable for swimming, cooler than Punta Cana. Fronts off Florida can bring a windy day or two; bring a light layer. (Approximate averages; check a forecast the week before you fly.)

What Nassau actually costs

CostTypical range
Breezes all-inclusive package (hotel, meals, drinks, transfers, taxes)From $1,099
Atlantis room-only package (hotel, transfers, taxes)Quote; food and drink on top
Round-trip flight to NASLowest fares of any international destination from Florida and the East Coast
Party package / club accessOptional add-on; see Party Packages
Excursions (Atlantis day pass, boat trips)Budget one or two
Spending moneyNassau is priced in U.S. dollars at par and runs higher than Mexico for taxis and meals off-resort

Nassau starts higher than Cancún ($699), Punta Cana ($599), and Freeport ($699). The offset for East Coast schools is the flight: a one-to-three-hour nonstop often costs less than the connection you would need for Cabo.

Getting there

Fly into Lynden Pindling International (NAS). Nonstops run from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston — under an hour from South Florida, about three from the Northeast. It is the easiest international airport on our list; Bahamas immigration and U.S. pre-clearance on the way home are both in the same terminal.

Your transfer to the hotel is included and takes about 15 minutes to Cable Beach, 25 to Paradise Island.

You need a passport book valid at least six months past your travel dates. The Bahamas is not covered by a passport card for air travel.

How booking works

A $100 deposit per person holds your spot; the balance is paid in interest-free monthly installments. Early-bird pricing is about $200 per person under regular rates and ends as March fills. Nassau has only two hotels in our lineup, so peak-week rooms at Breezes go early — October is the month to lock them.

Nassau spring break FAQs

How much is a Nassau spring break package?

From $1,099 per person at Breezes, including the all-inclusive resort, round-trip airport transfers, taxes, and a 5-night stay. Flights and party packages are extra. Atlantis is quoted separately and is room-only.

Is Nassau good for spring break?

Yes for groups who want a real town and a lot to do off-resort, and who are flying from the East Coast. It is not the cheapest option and it is not a walkable club strip.

Can you drink at 18 in Nassau?

Yes. The Bahamian drinking age is 18.

Nassau or Freeport for spring break?

Nassau is bigger, busier, has Atlantis and a downtown, and starts at $1,099. Freeport is smaller, quieter, and starts at $699. See our Freeport guide.

Do you need a passport for the Bahamas?

For flights, yes — a passport book valid at least six months past your travel dates.

Can you visit Atlantis if you stay at Breezes?

Usually. Atlantis sells day passes to Aquaventure to non-guests when the park is not at capacity; your Go Blue host can help your group arrange it.
