What a Group Actually Pays, Per Person

Every price below is the current lead-in, per-person rate across our 21 properties, cheapest first. The column that matters is not the price — it is what the price covers. All 21 include the room, the nights shown and all U.S. government taxes and fees; after that they diverge sharply.

Four package types appear in that table: All-inclusive (14 properties) covers every meal and drink at the resort plus round-trip airport transfers. Breakfast + transfers (2) covers daily breakfast and transfers, but lunch, dinner and drinks are yours. Room + transfers (1) covers the airport run and nothing else. Room only (4) is the room and the taxes.

The $50 That Changes Everything

The cheapest number on this page is $549 (Days Inn, Panama City) — room only. The cheapest all-inclusive is $599 (Occidental Caribe, Punta Cana). That is a difference of $50 per person, and for it you get every meal and every drink for 6 nights, plus both airport transfers.

Put that next to what a week of eating out actually costs a college group and the $549 option stops looking cheap. This is the single most common mistake we see groups make: comparing headline numbers across package types that are not the same product.

It cuts the other way too. Tru By Hilton in Fort Lauderdale is $1399 and is room only — more expensive than every all-inclusive on this page except one. A high price does not mean a full package. Read the inclusions before you compare anything.

How Group Rates and Rooms Actually Work

Two things change as a group grows. First, rates improve at 8, 16, 32 and 50+ travelers — the thresholds are fixed, but the improvement depends on destination, hotel and week, so it is quoted per group rather than advertised as a flat percentage. Second, rooms sleep up to four, so the room count is simple arithmetic:

A half-empty room costs the same as a full one, so filling rooms to four is the single biggest lever a group organiser controls. Each traveler holds their own spot with a $99 deposit and pays the balance in interest-free monthly installments — nobody has to front the whole trip.

The Week You Pick Moves the Price More Than the Headcount

Spring break is not one week. Of 601 college calendars we track for 2027, 227 schools (37.8%) are off the week of March 15 — more than any other week. That is when the best resorts in Cancún, Punta Cana and Cabo sell their spring break inventory first, and it is when lead-in rates disappear soonest.
